Supra 7MGE
| | Model of the car: | Supra 7MGE | | | General comments: | i bought this car from the first owner with 180k miles on it. the car has been in great shape in and out. this is a nonturbo model,so no headgasket problem. The only problem it had when i bought was leaking valve cover gasket. engine was running great, like new. The car is VERY solid compared to 80s vette, mustangs, camaros. no body twists, rattles of any kind. the 4 wheel double wishbone suspension makes it track any road surface and corners. great usefull interior and ergonomics. mine is a five speed, and i managed to do 140mph in it at 6000rpm for about 5 miles. However the piston rod bearings didn't handle it, now they need to be replaced. the engine has a laud knocking in it. the cause: i used 10w30 oil instead of 10w40 and the timing was not at its peak. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | very heavy car, poor low speed acceleration, slow heavy shifting, could use 6th gear | | | Previous car: | 84vette, and 88 iroc, supra is much more solid car, doesn;t feel like the body is gonna split in half on bad roads |
